Not So Fantastic

Fantastic Four is a cheesy popcorn movie. It has nice CGI, but nowhere near as nice as Episode III or even War of the Worlds. It has a very shallow plot; Spiderman and Daredevil were better. It’s just one nice entertaining movie that you’d only watch once.
I can’t help but compare this movie with that of The Incredibles. The Incredibles, despite being an animated film (with all the attendant prejudices against animation), is a much, much more fantastic movie than Fantastic Four which is nowhere near as, um, incredible. Hehe.
I haven’t read the comics (I never really read comic books) and so I can’t be sure if Johnny Storm a.k.a. The Human Torch is really one big immature kid. I found him more annoying than the character of Dakota Fanning in War of the Worlds. At least she was annoying because she’s a kid and there was a traumatic alien invasion ongoing.
And please, if you want to avoid megalomaniac super-villains, don’t destroy their multi-billion-dollar businesses! Haven’t you learned from the Green Goblin?
The movie’s entertaining. But that’s just it. You won’t catch me with a pirated DVD copy of that film at home.
