October 2007 Groovee Playlist™

4:23 pm PHT

Continuing my Groovee Playlist™ series (see the last installment), I’ve got a whole bunch of songs that you will definitely like provided that we have the same taste in music. Hehehe. :D As before, I’ll link to the Wikipedia article about the song (if it exists) as “[W]”, and to the YouTube search for the song as “[U]” so that you can sample the song and see if you like it as well.

  • “Bleed It Out” by Linkin Park. [W] [U] This is the band’s second single (after “What I’ve Done”, which I featured in the previous playlist) from their latest album, Minutes to Midnight. With “Bleed It Out”, we go back to their formulaic song where Mike raps and Chester screams, but this songs sounds quite different and almost pop-mainstream yet still likable.

  • “So Far Away” by Bamboo. [U] It’s a cliché that many Filipino musicians simply cover songs to increase their discography, but this rendition by Bamboo of a 1971 Carole King classic is very beautiful. :)

  • “Do You Know? (The Ping Pong Song)” by Enrique Iglesias. [W] [U*] Slightly cheesy pop song, but the chorus is quite catchy. I first heard this song in its house remix version, which I’m sure would make you dance if you’re in the mood.

  • “Nothing Hurts Like Goodbye” by Gabrielle. [U] This song is actually just a B-side to Gabrielle’s single “Why” and is not in the album, but I like definitely this song better than the single.

  • “Bubbly” by Colbie Caillat. [W] [U] Bubbly this song by Colbie Caillat really is. It’s a perfect song to complement your lazy Sunday afternoons and would make you smile. :)

  • “Dance Floor Anthem (I Don’t Wanna Be In Love)” by Good Charlotte. [W] [U] This is a pretty good rock song with a nice addictive chorus. Is it a dance floor anthem? Well, it’s quite danceable, and I think a nice club remix would be easy to make. Hehehe.

  • “Apologize” by OneRepublic. [W] [U] This OneRepublic song was featured in the “So You Think You Can Dance” show in the U.S. and also became vastly more popular because of a remix by Timbaland. The original is more classy and the remix more pop-oriented but they’re both excellent. Try listening to both and tell me which you like better. :D

  • “Your Guardian Angel” by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. [W] [U] This is an excellent song from the band that gave us Face Down. I like the way the song starts as a soft and earnest acoustic song then develops into a full-blown rock track reminiscent of the full band version of Evanescence’ “My Immortal”.

As always, reactions on the selected songs as well as other music recommendations in the comments are very much welcome. ;)
