Lucky Player Wins 2 Million Pesos in Deal or No Deal

10:33 pm PHT

A while ago, I just saw the most exciting game of Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal, ever! If you enjoy watching this game show, then this is the episode that shouldn’t have missed. :)

Terry Lim Cua is one extremely lucky guy. First of all, he’s the first ever winner of the 2,000,000 pesos jackpot prize. That’s already lucky in itself, but the other remaining amount was the million pesos! (The banker’s last offer was 1.4 million pesos—the highest ever.) And if that’s not enough, the last amount eliminated was 500,000 pesos! Yes, lucky Terry managed to eliminate all but the three highest amounts into the final round! (Yes, I used too much exclamation points. :D)

He was a bit unlucky during the initial stages because the first several briefcases he picked contained amounts that all came from the right side of the money board (i.e., the larger ones), but the law of averages kicked in later and he was picking out the smaller amounts. At the end of the seventh round, the remaining amounts were 500, 500K, 1M, and 2M. The banker offered him 700,000 pesos. Terry did not deal and then successfully eliminated the 500 in the eighth round. At this point, practically everyone in the studio (even the staff) was jumping up and down (the floor camera was visibly shaking). The banker then offered a full 1 million but Terry wisely rejected it. He then went on to eliminate the 500,000 in the ninth round and all hell broke lose in the studio. Terry rejected the banker’s final offer and the rest is history.

Coincidentally, this is the last episode of the year. If you think about it, what are the odds of this extremely lucky happening occurring on the said milestone episode? It seems God was generous this holiday season.

And (*ehem ehem*) if you want to see if you’re as lucky as Terry, you should try playing my Kaibigan, Deal or No Deal, a stripped-down version of the AJAX game I created for my colleagues in the office. Based on experience with my officemates, it’s somewhat easy to manage eliminating all but the top two amounts (the odds are 1:650), but no one has gotten to replicate Terry’s feat. :)
