The Village

I wonder what pushed me to watch The Village, M. Night Shyamalan’s latest movie. Alone.
I’ve been hearing mixed reactions about this film, and having seen all three previous Shyamalan creations, I definitely wanted to watch this one, if only for comparison. For the record, I liked The Sixth Sense although the ending was spoiled to me by unscrupulous people, I was a bit disappointed with Unbreakable, and I enjoyed Signs. I’ve read that Shyamalan says that all of his films are different in some way, and one person told me that his latest film is really about romance the same way that the third film is all about faith.
I am ashamed to admit that I covered my eyes during several scenes in The Village. It really is spooky, the Blair-Witch-kind-of spooky. And I loved the final twist. It puts a whole new perspective on the name of the movie.
If you haven’t seen this movie, I would recommend that you do. Bonus points for those who will watch it alone, like I did.
